| This course is designed to provide you with an understanding of how a computer processes information and is a foundation for subsequent learning. You will be introduced to the parts of a windows and learn how to control them. You will take a peek into the internal workings of a computer and understand its parts and how they interrelate. You will know how to use the mouse to its full potential, how to open programs and close them, as well as the proper Reboot and Shutdown procedures to ensure your computer’s long life. |

| This course will expand upon your understanding of the Windows operating system and highlight the features available within it. You will work with multiple programs at the same time (multitasking) and copy and paste between programs. You will customize the look and feel of Windows to your personal taste, by adjusting display settings. |

| Where does my document go when I save it? How do I find it again? What do I do to clean out my files when I’m done with them? How do I organize all my files? What if I want an extra copy of a file? These questions and more are answered in this third course on the Windows operating system. You will learn where files are stored and how they can be moved, deleted, copied, renamed and organized. Learn the internal filing system in a computer and take advantage of the search function to find what you need. |

| This course can be called “good housekeeping” for your computer. Learn the system tools that come with Windows to keep your computer up-to-date automatically and to repair, organize and clean up your disk space to insure your computer runs cleanly and efficiently. |

| Windows provides an address book (called Contacts in Vista), available to the other software programs on your machine. Learn how to build your address book to add contacts, edit contacts, delete and group contacts so that you can effectively use the address book to automatically complete addresses for email or for sending a letter. No more having to retype or risk spelling errors! |

| Windows Calendar is a new feature of Vista that provides a calendar to keep track of all your important appointments, birthdays, anniversaries or any event. The calendar also links to Windows Mail so that you can email an event to a friend. |
